Players to Watch
Crystal Palace Defence
Most leagues will have a Palace defender kicking around and could be a decent shout for the next few weeks. In order of preference we would take Kouyate, Mitchell, Guehi, Andersen & Ward.
Cornet [BUR]
Owned in 66% of 10 person leagues. He’s been a revelation since coming into the Burnley team proper. He really is quality and those who had watched a fair amount of him were rightly shocked he even ended up at Burnley, but he really is their best player and should improve on his tally over the next few weeks and if Burnley have plans to stay in the PL, he’ll need to add a few more.
Buendia [AVL]
Owned in 66% of 10 person leagues. @FPLDraftHubPod never got the hype over Emiliano Beundia when he was at Norwich and thought Aston Villa drastically overpaid to bring him in. He had a massive season in the Championship last year, but we saw the year before that that didn’t convert into big numbers in the Premier League. Already he’s been underwhelming and will now have his 3rd manager in the PL to show how good he is – maybe it’s 3rd time lucky and he’ll kick on with a re-jig of the structure. If he is knocking around your waiver pile it could be worth going early, just in case he goes and has a couple of big games with the new manager bounce.

Bailey [AVL]
58% Owned in 10 person leagues. The Jamaican has had a stop-start opening to his Villa career but we’ve already seen glimpses of his quality having picked up a goal and 3 assists already. We think he’s going to be a big player in Gerrard’s Villa and questions over his starting spot should largely vanish. He was getting a goal or assist every other game at Leverkusen and is already matching that form in his 6 PL appearances. There are plenty of Bailey’s sat in waiver piles across the draft universe, fairly similar to Buendia. These are slightly longer-term punts and if I had the choice of the two @FPLDraftHubPod would go for Bailey over Buendia.
Armstrong [SOU]
Owned in 63% of 10 person leagues. Plenty of leagues in which he’s free and his ownership is just below Che Adams, which is wrong, because Armstrong is better. If you’re looking for a new striker, one playing against NOR at the weekend isn’t the worst shout.

Hidden Gems (<10% Ownership in 10 person leagues)
Olise [CRY] – 8% Owned
Michael Olise is one of the many cracking signings made by Crystal Palace in the summer. He’s only 19 and is largely being bedded in with carefully managed minutes, but after just 150 minutes he has a goal and 2A. He passes the eye test and if he carries on, age is just a number and he’ll find his way into a regular spot.
McNeil [BUR] – 6%
Burnley’s former best player Dwight McNeil has been quiet so far this season and only has the 1 assist so far and he now has a decent run with crystal Palace, Wolves & Newcastle over the next few weeks to turn things around.
Ryan Fraser
This is a guy that got 7G + 14A in the 18/19 season but has been nowhere near that level since then. It almost feels too obvious for Howe to turn to him and he may be a bit self-conscious of that – but if you’re in a larger league where options are really limited, Fraser could be one to pick up and see how it goes.

The Most Hidden Gem (<10% Ownership in 16-team League)
Some of the names that stood out when glancing over the list were Lascelles, Brownhill, Oliver Skipp maybe, but the guy I’ve gone with is
Billy Gilmour (NOR)
Owned in just under 10% of 16-team leagues, I fully expect Dean Smith to bring Gilmour straight into the starting XI against Southampton. It’s baffling how under-used he’s been and we haven’t seen him in the PL since GW5. It feels like a very easy tweak for Smith to make and while Southampton have been solid, they have a tendency to run hot and cold, so it wouldn’t be the shock of the century if Norwich got a result.
