2021/22 – GW 13 Waivers, Trades and Free Agents

Welcome back to GW13 – 2021/22 of the FPL Draft Hub waivers summary.
Each week we will provide a round up of waiver options and hidden gems, as long as players drop in some sell-high/buy-low targets as we look ahead to GW13.
The insights from this article are created from research and knowledge put together by @FPLDraftHubPod. If you like what you see here, make sure to follow him and listen to the podcast.
GW13 is another gameweek contained within the two weekend days themselves, so no Friday Night Football or Monday Night Football as GW14 starts just 48hrs later, and spans Tuesday to Thursday. Then GW15 kicks off less than 48hrs after that concludes.
This means lots of football and lots of waiver windows coming thick and fast – don’t be the one that misses the waiver deadline as these are the weeks you can make a lot of ground in your draft leagues just by being switched on!

Players to Watch
Alonso [CHE] vs MUN
Reports at the time of recording this that Ben Chilwell could be out with a significant injury to his knee. This sees Alonso’s value increase dramatically and while @FPLDraftHubPod didn’t even put him on his defender ranking list because of how nailed Chilwell seemed to be, he could potentially now be a top 5 defender overall. We would be shocked if Alonso wasn’t the most waivered in defender this week and if you’re currently bottom or near bottom of your draft leagues, this could be a pivotal waiver for your season as there would be very little competition over on that left side, and with Lukaku back in the mix, there will be plenty of opportunities for goals and assists.
Emerson Royal [TOT] vs BUR
If you listened to the @FPLDraftHubPod defenders update list in the last pod, you’ll have heard that we are still not fully convinced about Royal as an FPL asset. He’s definitely not the marauding full back many thought we were getting and he’s definitely a lot more defensively-minded than Sergio Reguilon is on the opposite flank. Royal is a lot more widely available in draft leagues and behind Reguilon is the obvious one to have with Conte’s new system at Spurs. Perhaps once the structure is a lot more rehearsed and everyone is more comfortable in their roles, he’ll feel able to get forward more.
Canos [BRE] vs EVE
Sergi Canos has not been mentioned on any of the pods so far this season, but he’s quietly gone about scoring 10 more FPL points than fantasy-darling Mbeumo. Canos is performing pretty close to his xStats, he’s scored 1 and has an xG of 0.92 and has 3 assists with xA of 1.74. Compare that to Mbeumo who has far higher xG but only has the 2 goals to show for it. Is Mbeumo a bad player – no – but given the choice between these two on the waivers, I’m always someone that places more value on points than potential and we would probably go with Canos.
Mbeumo [BRE] vs EVE
Not much more to add to that above. He has been unlucky this season as he’s hit the woodwork more than anyone else, but ultimately his numbers aren’t really worthy of selection unless you’re in the larger leagues.

Harrison [LEE] vs BHA
This is one to think about, but not one we can really recommend bringing in. His place on draft day was high after a successful first season in the PL – 8G & 10A put him right up there with the best last year, but through 11GWs this season he was only churning out 1 and 2-pointers. Until last weekend, where he got his first assist of the campaign. Combine that with the possible return of Bamford and the relatively nice games they’ve got over the next couple of weeks, he could be a short-term punt to consider. It would have to be for just the next 3, as after that LEE have possibly the worst xmas schedule in the league, playing CHE, MCI, ARS and then LIV on boxing day, before a kinder new year schedule.
Doucoure [EVE] vs BRE
An early pace-setter disrupted by injury, but reports are he’s back in the frame to start the next game against BRE at the weekend. If he’s fit he’ll go straight back to where he was in the XI, the team looked like they are missing him and based on his form this season, there are far worse midfielders to own.
Dennis [WAT] vs LEI
Well out of all the player rankings, has @FPLDraftHubPod potentially undervalued anyone more than Emmanuel Dennis? Now up to 4G + 5A, 54pts overall and now the 4th highest scoring forward in the game. If he’s free in your draft league he has to be one to consider this week, though LEI, CHE & MCI in the next 3 is not the easiest run, but by the time the fixtures improve for WAT, it could be too late.

Hidden Gems (<10% Ownership in 10 person leagues)
Podence [WOL] vs NOR
His season hasn’t really got going yet, but just his second start of the campaign last weekend saw him register his first goal involvement as he picked up the assist for Jiminez’s winning goal against WHU. We’re yet to see Podence really take off in a WOL shirt and he’s struggled to match the output of his colleagues such as Neto & Jota before he left. Now they’re both out of the picture he’s got a good opportunity to be the third man alongside Hwang and Jiminez. Traore and Trincao have proved themselves to be largely impotent in the final third despite catching the eye and we expect him to start against NOR which is a good opportunity for a result.
If NOR get a result here though, @FPLDraftHubPod may have to start reconsidering the lazy punditry he’s doing here which is basically to just recommend players facing NOR or NEW each week.
The Most Hidden Gem (<10% Ownership in 16-team League)
Last week’s most hidden gem pick was Billy Gilmour – who started and assisted the winning goal scored by none other than prev. most hidden gem pick Grant Hanley, so Gilmour scored a very respectable 5pts. So to the handful of managers that actually brought him in (head over to the Global Dashboard to see updated ownership stats), you’re welcome.
Albrighton [LEI]
Already confirmed in the press conference that Pereira is still struggling with an injury and so we would expect Albrighton to slot back in at right wing-back for the time being and a home game against WAT is a good opportunity for LEI to draw a line under their recent poor form. It could be a good time to play WAT who will still be giddy from that result against United and we know LEI have the players to punish them.

- Lucas Moura
- Pogba – sounds like his injury will rule him out for a while
- BRE defenders Jansson & Pinnock
- Cavani
- Coufal
- Pepe
- Raya – out injured for what sounds like most of the season
- Leno – unless you’ve got him handcuffed with Ramsdale, but not sure why you would have unless you’re in a larger league
