West Ham United kicked-off their 2019/20 preseason schedule with an entertaining 3-2 win over SCR Altach in Austria.
The Hammers travelled over the border from their Swiss training camp in Bad Ragaz to take on the team which finished eighth in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.
After ten days of hard work in the mountains, the Irons played their part in a five-goal thriller at the superbly-named Stadion Schnabelholz.
Manuel Pellegrini handed a debut to goalkeeper Roberto, but it was one of his first signings, Carlos Sanchez, who headed the Londoners in front from Robert Snodgrass’s left-wing corner inside six minutes.
With both teams playing decent football on an immaculate playing surface, chances were created at both ends during an action-packed opening half.

West Ham United’s hopes of winning a first Premier League Asia Trophy were ended by treble winners Manchester City in China on Wednesday evening.
Wearing their smart navy Third Kit and with a special ‘Hammers’ message displayed on their shirts in Mandarin, the Londoners made a fine start and led through Mark Noble’s first-half penalty, only for two goals in the space of three minutes to give Pep Guardiola’s side the lead by the interval.
And, following the introduction of a succession of City’s top international players in place of the youngsters who kicked-off the game, the Premier League champions added two further goals to run out comfortable 4-1 winners.

Manuel Lanzini’s stunning finish was enough to West Ham United to see off a game Fulham side and claim a pre-season 1-0 win at Craven Cottage.
In a match where Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals made their respective Hammers debuts, it was West Ham’s resident Jewel that proved the difference, curling home a spectacular strike from the edge of the box on 18 minutes.
Haller himself went close to doubling the lead in the second half, seeing a followed-up shot somehow kept out, while Michail Antonio also went close in a thrilling match in ever-changing conditions.

Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller each netted their first West Ham United goals as the Irons came from behind to beat Hertha Berlin 5-3 in a thrilling pre-season encounter.
The Hammers had to twice equalise in the first half, with the first coming from Fornals’ left-footed finish, before Manuel Lanzini powered home his second in two games just prior to the half an hour mark.
Hertha Berlin would take the lead for the third time seven minutes into the second period, but Haller would head home his first West Ham goal after Robert Snodgrass’ brilliant free-kick.
Grady Diangana received Carlos Sanchez’s pass to put West Ham in front for the first time on 78 minutes before Michail Antonio secured the win late on.
